VicRoads has issued a delay warning for Geelong commuters driving home from Melbourne this afternoon.
VicRoads said a car rollover closed three lanes on the Princes Fwy outbound at Altona North just after the West Gate Freeway interchange prior to 3pm today.
“One lane is open, with delays building rapidly on the West Gate Freeway and M80 Ring Road,” VicRoads said.
“Drivers should plan ahead and find an alternative route home for the afternoon peak.
“From the M80 Ring Road, drivers can exit at Fitzgerald Road and get back onto the freeway from Kororoit Creek Road. Those leaving the city might consider using Williamstown or Millers roads to get back onto the freeway via Kororoit Creek Road.
“The lane closures are under Victoria Police control. Lanes will reopen when vehicles are moved and it’s safe to do so.
“VicRoads engineers are monitoring conditions in the area and will adjust traffic light sequences as needed to minimise congestion.”
