From battler to millionaire

A Geelong woman is looking forward to buying her first home after after becoming an overnight millionaire last week when she won a Keno Classic 10 spot prize.

The self-confessed “battler”, who has chosen to remain anonymous, won $1,328,203.90 in her winning entry, drawn September 19, and said she is still in a state of disbelief.

“It doesn’t feel real; it’s been a whirlwind,” she said.

“I still can barely talk or even think about anything else. I’ve barely slept too, it feels like a crazy dream.

““I’ve been trying to let the news sink in, and then I spent a few days celebrating, which was just fantastic. When I first see the money in my bank account, I’m going to enjoy a really nice bottle of champagne and continue the celebrations.”

The woman said she was thrilled to now have the opportunity to purchase her very first home after years of renting.

“This is a life-changing event for me, I’ve never even owned a house, I still rent,” she said.

“This prize will mean I can buy myself a little house and enjoy life a lot more.

“It will be great to buy something without looking at the price tag or hunting for the sales. I might go on a little shopping spree as a treat, too.

“I don’t know what else to say – it’s incredible, it’s insane! It’s going to transform my life.”
