Geelong will roll out a trial of its new pindone baiting program, in a bid to reduce a record number of rabbits damaging public reserves.

The program follows community concern about the growing population of rabbits and the harm they pose to sporting fields and significant environmental assets.

Clinic expands

The Geelong Clinic will expand by 21 beds following an announcement by Healthscope Limited that it will invest more than $16 million into the mental health centre.

The Geelong Clinic is currently a dedicated 52-bed private mental health hospital that treats conditions such as schizophrenia, depression and eating disorders.

Flying high

The RSL flag will be flying high outside the Surf Coast Shire offices until the end of April as part of this year’s ANZAC Day commemorations.

The flag acts as a symbol of the month’s importance for “ex-service people and their families” according to Torquay RSL President Bob Tyler.
