Elderly man loses fight after fatal collision

An 81-year-old Bell Park man has lost his fight for life in hospital after his car rolled and ran him over more than fortnight ago.

The man was outside his car on Stubbs Road, North Geelong, about 7.15pm on July 24, when the fatal incident occurred, police said.

Police believe the man was seeking directions from another driver when his car rolled forward and ran him over.

“The 81-year-old Bell Park man was transported to hospital with serious injuries and sadly died in hospital on August 9,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the man’s death at the weekend.

They urged any witnesses, or anyone with dash cam footage or information relating to the incident, to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au

The Victorian road toll had reached 135 on Wednesday, compared to 174 the same time last year.
