Unmasked woman arrested for alleged police assault

Police have arrested a woman in Geelong after she allegedly assaulted two police officers and breached the directions of the Chief Health Officer on Monday (August 3).

Officers observed the 25-year-old Geelong woman without a face covering near Yarra Street around 3.30pm and approached her.

The officers made multiple attempts to confirm her identity but the woman allegedly refused to provide her details.

When the officers then attempted to arrest her, the woman allegedly became aggressive and assaulted them.

The First Constable and Sergeant received minor injuries to their arms and hands which required treatment.

The woman has been charged with assault police, resist police, fail to provide address and fined $200 for breaching the directions of the Chief Health Officer.

She has been bailed to appear before Geelong Magistrates’ Court on August 10.
