Man arrested after threatening police

Police have arrested a man who was not wearing a face mask, and who threatened police, in Geelong today.

The man was seen behaving erratically in a Malop Street department store around 10.30am.

Police spoke to the man, who was not wearing a mask, and after several warnings he was arrested.

During the arrest, the man allegedly made serious threats to injure the police members.

The 36-year-old West Melbourne man was charged with seven offences including make threats to seriously injure persons, breaching the Chief Health Officer’s directions and bail offences.

He was remanded to appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Wednesday, August 5).

The man is also alleged to have received three penalty notices in the last 14 days for breaching the Chief Health Officer’s directions.
