Faull hit-run accused charged with murder

By PAUL MILLAR

HOBBLING on crutches, Mark Sheen slumped into a Geelong Magistrates’ Court chair yesterday, charged with murdering Corio identity Gary Faull.
The heavily tattooed 21-year-old clasped his hands in front of him and gazed around the courtroom during his brief appearance.
Police arrested Sheen, of no fixed address, without incident at Lara just after 7pm Wednesday.
Homicide detectives yesterday charged him in connection with a hit-run at Corio that resulted in the death of 65-year-old Mr Faull.
Mr Faull was raking leaves on his neighbour’s nature strip when the motorcycle allegedly struck him on Easter Sunday.
A husband, father and grandfather, Mr Faull was taken to the Alfred Hospital but died from his injuries on 14 April. His funeral was on Wednesday.
In court yesterday, Mr Sheen, seated between two guards, allowed his crutches to fall by his side as he listened to the brief hearing.
Dressed in a black patterned T-shirt and denim jeans, he leant back in his chair as the court heard he had suffered an injury to his foot but he appeared to need no other medical aid.
The court noted that he should see a doctor.
No application was made for bail and he was remanded to face the same court on 14 August.
Police have also charged another man in relation to the fatality.
Corio’s Matthew Robertson will front court on the same date to answer a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The 30-year-old’s bail was extended in an earlier court appearance.
