Portarlington’s ferry is the perfect nautical adventure for the school holidays with all-new family return passes for just $69.
This winter smooth conditions have provided some unique wildlife viewing for Geelong youngsters.
“We’ve been seeing whales, seals and dolphins – even penguins,” says Port Phillip Ferries’ Connie Trathen.
“The kids love it! If you tell them you might spot a dolphin, they’ll look out of the window for the whole trip.”
The family ticket runs from 1 to 16 July and covers the return fare for two adults and two children.
“So many people have never been on the bay before – it’s the ideal way for experience it, knowing you’re on a safe comfortable vessel,” Connie says.
The fully-heated Ferry also has free WiFi and colouring-in to keep the kids entertained.
“And if they’re lucky enough they’ll get to meet the captain,” Connie says.
Once at Docklands, it’s only a short walk to the Melbourne Aquarium, ice skating, the Melbourne Star, glow-in-the-dark mini golf, the Artvo interactive exhibition and more.
The ferry is great for an outing with the grandparents too, with half-price tickets for seniors every Monday and Tuesday from 26 June until the end of winter.
“When our ferry pulls up in Docklands, they can just hop on Melbourne’s tram network which free for CBD,” Connie says.
And young Cats fans can avoid packed trains to the footy when Geelong takes on Hawthorn at the MCG on 15 July.
“We really want to see the vessel full of blue and white,” Connie says.
