Bouncing back against fibrosis

Fundraisers want Geelong to help put some bounce into the campaign for cystic fibrosis awreness.
Cystic Fibrosis Victoria has called on residents, schools and community groups to participate in next month’s Big Bounce to supporting people battling he country’s most common life-shortening condition.
Cystic Fibrosis Victoria chief Karin Knoester said the organisations was seeking team and individual entries to host fundraising Big Bounce parties or exercise challenges.
“Bouncing is not only great fun and a great way to exercise, it also improves the quality of life for those with cystic fibrosis as jumping helps clear the sticky mucus in the lungs and airways which can cause infection,” Ms Knoester said.
“Trampolining every day is highly recommended for people with cystic fibrosis as the motion is great for keeping their lungs healthy and strong.
“We’re encouraging Geelong workplaces, schools, families and friends to host a Big Bounce party at home or at a local trampoline or gymnastics center to get behind the cause while benefiting from a great workout.”
Ms Knoester said Big Bounce proceeds would provide support and critical services for cystic fibrosis sufferers and their families.
The incurable condition affects about 350 young Victorians.
Ms Knoester said registrations and more information for the fundraiser were available at bigbounce.org.au or by phoning 9686 1811.
