Target wins battle over Grove store

TARGET has won a court battle to resume works on a controversial Ocean Grove retail development.
The retail giant said a Victorian Supreme Court battle between previous site owners, Ocean Grove Enterprises, Melbourne’s Dzine Construction Group and Target had been settled.
A Target spokeswoman said Ocean Grove Enterprises would take over ownership of the site and Dzine would continue as builder after the previous owner went into voluntary liquidation in June.
“We’ve wanted to become a part of the Ocean Grove community for a long time and we can now move forward and deliver a convenient Target Country store.”
The spokeswoman said the store would open by November in time for Christmas and the peak holiday season.
The Independent reported last month that the $10 million retail development had been under a cloud since construction work ceased around the middle of last year.
The plaza was initially scheduled to open late last year but works stopped amid problems with powerlines and management wrangles.
