Lions chasing kids, families

Belmont Lions Sports Club is looking for young footballers keen to lace up and get out on the field for the 2015 season.
And new players will have plenty of opportunities for a kick with the Lions.
“Don’t be a benchwarmer with the bigger clubs, every kid gets a run at Belmont,” says Brendan Smith, the club’s junior football coordinator.
“We also offer a great club, great mates and one of the cheapest memberships around.”
Belmont is anxious to boost its junior ranks as kids steer away from sport or head off to clubs where they believe they might be more successful, Brendan says.
“But the fact is, a lot of those kids looking elsewhere won’t get much of a run.
“They’ll find themselves frustrated when they should instead be getting out there and having fun, keeping fit and striking up strong friendships – all the things that football is good for.”
Belmont Lions wants youngsters for Auskick and under 10s, 12s, 14s and 16s.
The club’s fee structure, which includs a free club hoodie, is $65 for Auskick, $110 for under-10s and 12s and $135 for under-14s and 16s.
“Every family member and player involved is welcome, highly valued and given a fair go,” Brendan says.
“We’d also welcome any parents interested in being involved in match-day support roles.
“Belmont’s a great club and this really is a good opportunity.”
Brendan’s happy to field enquiries on 0430 194 933 or brendan448@hotmail.com.
