Protecting seniors and empowering ‘unsung heroes’

Home Instead Senior Care Geelong has been announced as a finalist for the 2020 Geelong Business Excellence Awards, which shines a light on some of the thriving businesses in the Geelong community.

Giovanni Siano, owner and director of the business, agrees that it’s been a challenging year for many businesses in the region, which has been affected by both bushfires and the pandemic.

“Home Instead has risen to the challenge in offering quality care and support for Geelong’s seniors so they can live independently and safely in the comfort of their own homes,” Giovanni says.

“We’ve done everything in our power to protect the health of our seniors and their loved ones during the COVID-19 crisis. Because older adults are particularly vulnerable, their health and safety is our foremost priority.”

When asked about her favourite part of the job, Giovanni says, “I feel so privileged and inspired to have the opportunity to empower our 130-plus local employees to make a positive contribution to the lives of our ageing community.

“Our care givers are our unsung heroes! I send a huge, heartfelt thank you to all the aged care professionals for their dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of seniors and their families during this unprecedented time.”

Giovanni adds, “I am honoured to be a finalist in the 2020 Geelong Business Excellence Awards. It’s great to receive recognition as a home care service provider during such challenging times for the aged care industry.”
