Teen louts attack, rob disabled woman on scooter at Corio

POLICE are appealing for the public’s help after three teen thugs attacked and robbed a woman on a mobility scooter in Corio.

The 57-year-old Norlane woman was riding the motorised scooter south on Bacchus Marsh Road when she stopped at the intersection of Goldsworthy Road last Wednesday to give way to a vehicle about 3.40pm.

Three male youths approached the victim and started verbally harassing her, police said.

The trio then stole the safety flag from her scooter and attempted to steal her handbag, which was on the floor of the scooter and wrapped around her leg.

The woman struck the men with her walking stick before they fled with the flag.

She was taken to Geelong Hospital and treated for back pain.

The offenders were all described as Caucasian and aged in their late teens.

One was wearing a blue beanie, jumper and jeans while another was wearing a red checked shirt and had a large earring in one of his ears.

It is not known what the third male was wearing.

Lara police are investigating and keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au
