Pinky snapper holding in good numbers

Inside the Corio Bay is still continuing to produce some top fishing and with Good Friday here it’s a great time to get some fresh fillets for the table.

Pinky snapper continue to hold good numbers right through the region with the northern part of the bay fishing well.

The area known as Bird Rock has been holding some nice fish to about two kilograms with bait and soft plastics picking them up.

King George whiting are also well spread out through the bay with good reports coming from Stingaree Bay, Hermsley, Clifton Springs and Portarlington.

Fishing the run out tide has been by far most productive with pipis proving to be the standout bait.

Calamari also have been holding close to the shores of the Bellarine Peninsula with Clifton Springs yet again the current hotspot with the pier fishing very well at night.

The tuna off Barwon Heads have had a little bit of a fight back with some great reports coming through with plenty of fish still out there.

The 60 metre line has been super productive with fish eating divers, skirts top water and jigs.

The fish have been moving pretty quickly so follow the birds and you will find the fish.

The bottom fishing has also been quite productive with gummy sharks and snapper biting quite well along the 40 metre line, baits such as fresh squid and salmon have been most productive.

Port Fairy has been on fire with an insane barrel tuna bite out the front.

From straight south of Port Fairy to Julia Percy Island on the 55 metre line there has been fish ranging from 15kg through to 150kg.

The fish have been eating a variety of lures and different techniques with a deep divers proving to be the most productive.

Skirted lures have also been producing plenty of fish and so too have stick baits when the fish are on the surface slamming schools of redbait worked up to the top.

Wurdi Buloc Reservoir has continued to fish well for trout and redfin with anglers having great success casting from the rock walls.

Spoon style lures have been a standout as it allows for a long cast covering lots of water.

Shallow diving jerk baits have also been getting plenty of fish, more so trout, but they have been lethal.

Duo Realis 80 and Megabass X70s have been standout lures to throw.
