Stabbing leaves teen fighting for life

A Bell Post Hill teenager is fighting for life in hospital following a stabbing in Corio on Sunday night.

“An 18-year-old man sustained a life-threatening stab wound during an altercation between two groups of youths on Goulburn Avenue just after 6.30pm,” Victoria Police spokesperson Sergeant Anita Brens said.

“The Bell Post Hill teen was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. Police arrested two male youths nearby shortly after the stabbing.”

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives charged a 16-year-old boy from Brookfield with intentionally causing serious injury and affray.

He was scheduled to appear before a bail justice this morning.

CIU detectives also charged an 18-year-old Melton man with affray and possessing a drug of dependence.

He was remanded to appear in Geelong Magistrates’ Court today.

A Barwon Health spokesperson confirmed the 18-year-old Bell Post Hill man was still in a critical condition at University Hospital Geelong on Monday afternoon.
