Mt Duneed Road stretch to close for two months

Mt Duneed Road between Hunts Road and Willowite Road in Freshwater Creek will close on Monday for the next two months.

The Surf Coast Shire said the road would be closed for eight to 10 weeks to allow road safety works around the railway overpass to happen.

The area had been identified as high risk, particularly at the sharp s-bend under the railway line.

The upgrade will result in more consistent lane widths, improved advance warning of sharp curves and low bridge, and better lighting, guardrail and skid resistant surfacing.

This area has been identified as a high risk section of road for traffic with a history of crashes particularly at the sharp s-bend under the railway line. To improve safety, the road will be upgraded to provide more consistent lane widths, improved advance warning of sharp curves and low bridge, improved lighting, guardrail and skid resistant surfacing.

Clearly signed traffic detours will be in place during the road closure.

The Surf Coast Shire received blackspot funding from the federal government to complete the roadworks.
