Geelong records new case with 224 state-wide

Geelong recorded another active COVID-19 case yesterday as the state total increased by 224, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.

Greater Geelong had seven active cases and 76 in total as of midnight on Tuesday, up on six and 75 the previous day.

Surf Coast’s active cases remained level on one, with ten in total since the pandemic began.

The Golden Plains recorded three new cases on Monday, bringing the shire’s total since the pandemic began to four, with three active, according to the department.

A woman her 90s has died in hospital, bringing the total deaths from COVID-19 in Victoria to 27.

The department recorded 238 cases yesterday with 14 reclassified, largely due to duplication, increasing the state total by 224 to 4448.

Victoria currently has 1931 active cases and 790 cases from unknown transmission.

Of the new cases, 29 are linked to outbreaks and 209 are under investigation. No new cases have been detected in returned travellers in hotel quarantine.

Currently 105 people are in hospital with COVID-19, including 27 in intensive care, while 2395 people have recovered from the virus.

Of the total cases, 4017 are from metropolitan Melbourne, while 305 are from regional Victoria. More than 1,197,300 tests have been processed to date.

Cases currently linked to public housing in North Melbourne, Flemington and Carlton are as follows:

247 cases are residents of various public housing towers in North Melbourne and Flemington.

36 cases are residents of various public housing towers in Carlton.
