Drink driver caught on wrong side of road in Corio

Police were left shaking their heads after a man blew nearly five times the limit in Corio early this morning.

The Mazda CX9 wagon caught the attention of patrolling police after they witnessed it driving down the wrong side of Cox Road about 4am.

Police pulled over the 52-year-old driver, whose offences began to pile up when they realised he was driving while on the phone.

The Lovely Banks man was breathalysed, returning an alleged reading of .223.

It went from bad to worse when they realised he was already disqualified from driving.

Officers impounded the man’s vehicle at a cost of $1320 and he can expect to receive a summons for drink driving, driving while disqualified, driving on the wrong side of the road and using his phone while driving.
