Foundation announces new chief

Community foundation Give Where You Live has announced the appointment of its new chief executive.

Zac Lewis will step into Give Where You Live’s top job after concluding his tenure as the chief executive of Western Chances, a Melbourne-based not-for-profit organisation focused on helping young people overcome financial barriers to reach their potential.

He will succeed outgoing boss Bill Mithen, who stepped down after 13 years in the role.

Previous to his four-year stint at Western Chances, Mr Lewis had roles at Foodbank Victoria, Australian Wildlife Conservancy and the Victorian Public Service.

Mr Lewis said he was “thrilled” to join Give Where You Live Foundation, which “for 70 years has striven to create a fairer and more inclusive G21 region”.

“I can’t wait to join such an impact and values driven organisation and look forward to working with the Board, staff and wider community to create positive change in our region,” Mr Lewis said.

Daleene Kroger, Chairperson of the Give Where You Live Foundation said the Board and staff are excited to welcome Zac to the team.

“After an extensive and thorough recruitment process, we are thrilled to appoint Zac as CEO,” Ms Kroger said.

“He brings a strong passion for working with the community and is a values-based leader, who aligns strongly with the Foundation’s core values.”

“We are confident that Zac’s leadership, commitment to social purpose and ability to bring people together to create positive change, will strengthen the Foundation’s work of creating a fairer and more equitable Geelong community.”

Mr Lewis will take up the role on Monday, February 3 next year.
