Prison for road rage

A GEELONG man has been jailed for a violent road rage incident.
Lee Ibrahimovic, of Carrington St, Thomson, pleaded guilty in Geelong Magistrates’ Court to intentionally causing injury in an October 2011 dispute.
Magistrate Michael Coghlan told the court Ibrahimovic “verbally abused” the victim and “cut off the victim’s vehicle” at the intersection of Barwon Heads Rd and Breakwater Rd, Belmont.
“You pursued him. While he was retreating backwards you kicked him then you continued to assault him,” Mr Coghlan said.
The court heard that two female victims called 000 when Ibrahimovic threatened them.
“I’m going to come back and burn your house down with all of you in it,” he said.
Mr Coghlan acknowledged Ibrahimovic’s early plea of guilty but noted he had prior offences relating to driving and dishonesty.
In 2009 Ibrahimovic was sentenced to four months prison, Mr Coghlan said.
The court heard Ibrahimovic had “a history of mental health issues”.
But health professionals’ reports said his response to the situation was “not directly associated with underlying mental disorders” and that his “antisocial attitudes required psychological intervention”.
Mr Coghlan sentenced Ibrahimovic to three months imprisonment and three months suspended for 18 months.
As he was taken into custody Ibrahimovic gestured solemnly to his de facto partner who was holding a baby.
