Afternoon intersection collision

Four people have been taken to hospital following a three-car collision near Lara, with a part of Bacchus Marsh Road blocked off to the public.

Emergency services were called to the Bacchus Marsh Road and Windermere Road intersection just after 4pm today (Tuesday 10 February) following reports of a three-vehicle collision.

The Independent confirmed that a section of the busy road was closed off to traffic, with Geelong Highway Patrol Officers remaining at the scene (as of 6pm) and instructing motorists to take detours from Bacchus Marsh Road, including along West Gateway and Goulburn Park Drive.

It is understood that a man was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious injuries, while two males and one female were taken to University Hospital Geelong by road ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The exact cause of the collision is currently unknown, with police officers continuing to investigate the incident.
