THREE Whittington men allegedly led police on a car chase after triggering an alarm during a burglary at Geelong Bowling Lanes, according to a detective.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Frame said police caught the men running through a swamp at Belmont after dumping their getaway car.
Police charged the men, aged 21 and 30, over the bowling lanes break-in and one of them in relation to a separate burglary of a Waurn Ponds restaurant on Monday night, he said.
They were released on bail to appear in court.
Police alleged the trio cut through the bowling lanes’ roof to steal cash, activating the alarm at 3.39am Tuesday.
Det Sgt Frame said the chase through Belmont and Grovedale began 16 minutes later.
Bowling alley manager Terry Lewis said he discovered a “big mess” on Tuesday morning.
“We’re still trying to clean up,” he said on Tuesday afternoon.
