Lara man missing, hut burned, car empty

POLICE are appealing for public help to find missing Lara man Murray McMillan.

Mr McMillan was last seen at his home address on 14 April and told a family member he would return on 17 April.

Police believe he was heading to a friend’s property in Moonambel to go camping for a few days.

The 45-year-old man was reported missing on 18 April after he failed to return from the trip.

When police attended the hut in Moonambel, they discovered it had burned down.

Mr McMillan’s vehicle, a green Mitsubishi Magna sedan, was found by a member of the public in the Pyrenees State Forest, Warrenmang around 4pm on Monday.

Mr McMillan was not in the car and a number of police units including Search and Rescue, Dog Squad, Air Wing and local police all searched the area without success.

Police and family have serious concerns for Mr McMillan’s welfare as he currently suffers from a medical condition.

Investigators have released photos of Mr McMillan along with an image of a car similar to his.

He is also known to frequent the area around the You Yangs and police are urging those in the state’s west to keep a look out for him.

Anyone who sees Mr McMillan is urged to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Anyone with other information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
