Dob in dealers, urge cops

Police have urged Geelong residents to continue dobbing in drug dealers as a part of a two-week campaign ending Tuesday.
Crime Stoppers launched the Dob in a Dealer campaign on 21 June, seeking tips about neighbourhood drug-dealing activity.
The campaign was rolled-out previously in Geelong in April last year, contributing to a 110 per cent increase in drug-related reports to Crime Stoppers.
“We’re extremely pleased and grateful to see the Geelong community supporting our Dob in a Dealer campaign for a second year running,” said Crime Stoppers Victoria spokesperson Chris Plumridge.
“To tackle the flow of ice and other illicit drugs into regional cities requires a whole-of-community response. We know that information from the community leads to real results when it comes to breaking the cycle of crime.
“Any piece of information you provide, no matter how insignificant you may think it is, could assist police in finding those guilty of manufacturing, dealing and supplying illicit drugs in your community and bringing them to justice.
“We urge you to please continue to report what you know to Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or on our website crimestoppersvic.com.au and report anything you know about the supply, manufacture or dealing of ice and illicit drugs in your neighbourhoods.”
This year’s Dob in a Dealer campaign was rolled out nationally, with 17 campaigns in Victoria and another 58 across the rest of Australia following a $1 million grant from the Federal Government.
