GEELONG artist Charles Moodie loves the view from the top of Moorabool St’s hill on still mornings.
“I love looking out over Corio bay with the You Yangs and Shell Refinery in the distance.”
“Many people take things in their own backyard for granted but they’re often as picturesque as anywhere.”
The Newtown resident’s oil paintings and watercolours will feature at Ocean Grove Rotary Club’s first art show this weekend.
Mr Moodie said being part of an inaugural show was exciting.
“I always sell quite well at the yearly Camberwell Rotary Club exhibition, which is the biggest in Australia.”
Rotary Club of Ocean Grove President Margaret Campbell said the show would feature diverse works, many from well-known artists.
“Some of our entries are from locals who have taken up art as they retired,” Ms Campbell said.
“We’re putting them up to the challenge and they have just as much chance of taking out a prize because art can be pretty personal.”
Sections will include painting, drawing, street art and print-making.
The show’s overall winner will earn $2500, while section winners will take home $1000.
The show will run Saturday and Sunday in Queenscliff Town Hall.
