Seafood delight

The Fish Lab serves Geelong’s best fish and chips, according to a Bay FM popular-vote competition.
The new business specialises in traditional fish and chips, hamburgers, souvlaki, steak sandwiches and fresh homemade salads.
Business owners George Katos and Paul and Tania Anastasopoulos have over 50 years’ combined experience working in some of Geelong’s best seafood restaurants.
Collectively they own Fishermen’s Pier Geelong and Popeyes Fish and Chippery and have operated a number of local fish-and-chip businesses.
Operating in Barrabool Hills Plaza for just two months, The Fish Lab already has returning customers and is quickly becoming renowned for its customer service and freshly caught seafood.
“We have our own fishing trawler which supplies the shop with freshly caught gummy, flathead tails and whiting,” Tania says.
The family feast special includes four butterfish, four potato cakes, four dim sims, chips, tartare sauce, and a 1.25-litre Coke for $29.50.
For $2 extra the butterfish can be replaced with flake.
The tradies specials are another popular choice and can be ordered between 11am to 3pm.
Options include souvlaki, flake, butterfish, or a hamburger with the lot and include a half serve of chips and a can of drink ranging from $8 to $10.
The seafood platter includes one fishette, three prawns, scallops and calamari rings served with chips and tartate sauce for $10.
Grovedale’s Popeyes Fish and Chippery will soon operate under The Fish Lab franchise name.
The Fish Lab is open 9.30am to 8.30pm seven days a week at shop 7, Barrabool Hills Plaza, corner Province Blvd and Stonleigh Cres, Highton, phone 5243 1538.
