‘Pizza threat’ shocks boy, 14

ERIN PEARSON
A MAN armed with a knife has robbed a boy of a slice of pizza and a soft drink in a bizarre incident on a Geelong West street, according to Geelong Police.
Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Keogh said the 14-year-old victim was left uninjured but shaken after the robbery last week.
Det Sen Sgt Keogh said the assailant approached the boy about 8.45pm on February 15 outside La Campagnola restaurant.
The victim had spoken to the alleged offender minutes earlier at an adjacent Safeway supermarket to “ask for change”.
Det Sen Sgt Keogh said the robber was unknown to the boy.
The offender told the victim he had a knife before demanding the takeaway meal.
“The victim handed over the slice of pizza and drink before the offender fled off toward Safeway,” Det Sen Sgt Keogh said.
“(The victim) was left shaken by the incident and concerned he might see him again in the area.”
Det Sen Sgt Keogh said police were seeking help to catch the robber.
“We are appealing for members of the public that may know this man to contact police.”
Det Sen Sgt Keogh said the offender had not asked for anything else from the victim such as a money, a wallet or electronics.
The boy described the offender as about 18 years old, 180cm, of slim build, with pale, freckled skin and wearing a black and orange New York Knicks cap, a white T-shirt and sunglasses.
Det Sen Sgt Keogh asked anyone with information on the offender to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
