THE region’s electricity and water providers are preparing to pass price hikes on to customers when Australia’s carbon tax begins on July 1.
An AGL spokesperson said the electricity retailer was “working through the details”.
AGL announced this week that it had applied to Essential Services Commission for an average annual carbon tax hike of $150 for South Australian households.
Barwon Water boss Michael Malouf said the authority would incorporate carbon tax costs into future pricing.
The tax could cost Barwon Water $650,000 a year, he said.
