THE Australian National Surfing Museum in Torquay (formerly known as Surf World) is dedicated to celebrating the story of Australian surfing and beach culture.
A visit to ANSM offers an unforgettable experience where you can explore and discover the fun, excitement and rich history of surfing in Australia over the past 100 years.
The museum features:
* An astonishing collection of surfboards showcasing the amazing changes in wave-riding craft over the last century;
* Colourful and informative exhibits and interactive displays providing insights into significant events and characters;
* The Australian Surfing Hall of Fame which honours this country’s greatest champions and most influential figures through biographies on replicas of the boards they rode; and
* A prehistoric whale fossil found at nearby Bells Beach.
There is also an authentic surfboard shaping bay, unique artworks, a theatre screening brilliant surf travel films, epic surf photography, plus displays of vintage surf clothing, wetsuits, movie posters, books, Bells Beach and other competition trophies, and more.
The ANSM is located within the Torquay Visitor Information Centre at 77 Beach Road, Torquay.
It is open from 9am to 5pm seven days a week, with ticket prices $12 for adults, $8 for children (aged 6 and over) and family tickets $25.
