Good food is good nutrition

Grovedale Quality Meats has served the best goods in Peter Street for 50 years, according to owner Trevor Forder.
“She’s a real old-fashioned, tradition shop,” he said.
“It’s a little bit different from the supermarkets.”
A smokehouse out the back is one of the differences, Trevor said.
The butchers smoke products on site, including bacon, kabana, frankfurts and ham on the bone.
“The smokehouse gets a bit of use at Christmas time,” Trevor said.
“It’s all done the old style.”
Trevor, who has worked in the meat industry for more than three decades, also uses his small sheep farm at Lara to offer “a little bit of paddock to plate” at the Grovedale shop.
“We produce about 70 lambs a year.”
Trevor said the best part of the job was serving quality products to customers from all walks of life.
“Everybody’s got a story,” he said.
“And mine is that good quality food is good nutrition.”
