A WESTERN region Victoria Police officer has been charged with rape following an alleged incident in January.
The male leading senior constable was initially charged with two counts of recklessly causing injury in February following a Professional Standards Command investigation.
Following further investigation, the officer was this week charged with rape, Victoria Police said.
The charges stem from the same incident, which is alleged to have occurred while the member was off duty at a private residence on 26 January.
He continues to be suspended without pay and will appear in the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 9 April.
