SURF Coast and Bellarine Peninsula lifesavers have scooped the pool again at the sport’s annual state awards.
Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club’s Matthew Burke won Lifesaver of the Year, while his club’s overall point score won Victorian Lifesaving Championships for the 11th year in a row.
The club’s Guy Kinsey’s eight gold trophies at this year’s Victorian Lifesaving Championships led to him taking home an under-17 male athlete of the year award.
Jan Juc SLSC’s Madelyn McDonald won under-17 female athlete of the tear.
Anglesea SLSC’s Hayley Atkins won female athlete of the year.
Judges awarded a volunteer of the year award to Lorne SLSC’s Neil Morarty from Lorne SLSC.
Life Saving Victoria president Mike Martin said he was proud of all the volunteers and athletes who contributed their time throughout the year.
“The evening capped off what was another remarkable season in lifesaving and it is always fantastic to recognise Victoria’s dedicated volunteers who contribute so much,” he said.
