Their future is clear

Local awnings and blinds manufacturer, Brax Window Treatments are celebrating 75 years of doing business in Geelong in 2017.
A second generation family business, owned and operated by David and Cal Stewart, Brax have been proudly manufacturing in our region since 1942.
Originally commencing making wooden rulers, small toys and knitting counters, the business started manufacturing Timber venetians around 1948 before expanding into all aspects of window furnishings and security screens and doors.
Brax are proud of their history, but are prouder still to be manufacturing locally at a time when many of their competitors have taken their fabrication offshore.
“Being able to manufacture locally gives us greater control and we believe it’s our main competitive advantage,” says David. “Geelong people like to know that we are still making our products here. More than 75 per cent of everything we sell is made in our South Geelong factory,” he states.
“And by manufacturing ourselves we can choose who we purchase from. We always endeavour to use components of the highest quality, and where possible, Australian made.”
Brax are continuing to invest heavily in manufacturing. They have recently expanded their South Geelong facilities, to improve storage and workflow as well as implementing new software to enable electronic quoting and better tracking of jobs, with the ultimate aim of improving their service delivery to their customers.
Where to now for Brax? “Who knows?” says David. “Like all businesses, we’ve always got work to do on improving everyday, it never stops.”
