State to consider Queensland booze ban

Peter Farago
CALLS for a halt to promotion of cutprice drinks in Geelong have prompted the Victorian Government to consider Queensland’s ban on cheapbooze advertisements.
Member for Lara John Eren used a speech in parliament this week to call on Consumer Affairs Minister Daniel Andrews to investigate options for Victoria to ban advertising cheap alcoholic drinks at bars and nightclubs.
Mr Andrews said he would ask Consumer Affairs Victoria to look at Queensland’s laws but highlighted that Government was committed to an educational approach on alcohol consumption.
