Tidal wave of art sweeps up Eclectic ladies

THE Eclectics’ Tidal sounds more like a pop group’s album than an art exhibition.
But the group of Bellarine Peninsula artists decided on the Eclectics name because of their diverse backgrounds and artistic styles.
Sculptor Beryl Stott said the five friends discovered over coffee that their artistic endeavours took different forms.
“I moved to St Leonards about four years ago and joined a couple of local art groups, where we all met,” Beryl recalled.
“We found that we are all like-minded but with quite different artistic expressions, so we thought that would make an interesting exhibition.
“It’s a bit different from exhibitions where the artists are all similar. This way there is something for everyone.”
Pammi Pryor is a botanical artist with a love of watercolour, Annie McDonald is a textile artist, weaving magic with coloured silks, Eileen Jenkins paints beautiful scenery from around St Leonards, Diane Hodson is a beach babe who paints the ocean and Beryl Stott loves to sculpt in clay.
The exhibition theme, Tidal, reflected the peninsula and its beaches, bays, oceans and rivers, Beryl said.
Each artist has six initial pieces in the show but patrons can purchase and take pieces immediately.
The exhibition runs from 10 and 4pm throughout January at Drysdale Community Centre.
