The Geelong Indy is celebrating its first partnership with the region’s premier annual business awards.
With the Indy’s extensive print and digital promotion, the 2017 Powercor Geelong Business Excellence Awards enjoyed a record field of entries.
The awards also had a flood of presentation-night attendees, with a crowd of around 600 packing The Pier’s function room.
The Indy gave the awards extensive coverage in the region’s highest-circulating community newspaper.
All editorial content was also posted online and promoted further via the Indy’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
The combination of print and digital promotion to a massive local audience was key to the partnership’s success, said Indy managing editor Tony Galpin.
“The Geelong Indy has one the biggest community-newspaper circulations in Australia,” he said.
“Combine this with the paper’s extensive local online reach and the results are spectacular.
“The Indy’s thrilled to have helped restore the awards’ profile to where it belongs.”
Mr Galpin said the Indy was already planning to help deliver a bigger Geelong Business Excellence Awards next year.
“The awards are an important recognition of the local businesses driving prosperity in the region,” he said.
“The Indy is aware of how crucial it is to acknowledge the excellence of the local operators helping create the jobs and opportunities of tomorrow.
“We look forward to playing our part in a bigger and better Geelong Business Excellence Awards for 2018 and beyond.”
