The aspiration for the chief executive officer at St John of God Hospital Geelong has been to grow a culture that is inclusive, and the CEO encourages every member of the team to believe that they can impact positively on what they do.
The organisational success has also been strongly supported by a team approach to nurture a culture that shares a collective sense of vision, a desire to succeed, that develops and utilises the talents and gifts of each person, encourages people to innovate and recognises and affirms outcomes.
He has a firm belief that it’s not bricks and mortar that deliver achievement alone, rather it’s having the good fortune to build a culture that becomes the foundation for delivering the performance recognised by others as being unique.
He believes his achievements can be defined in many ways, and it is his good fortune to have led the transformation of an iconic Geelong institution into arguably the leading private hospital in Regional Australia.
Stephen was appointed chief executive officer at St John of God Geelong Hospital in 1991.
His previous appointments include chief executive at St John of God Health Care, Goulburn and chief clerk at Tamworth Base Hospital.
He holds a Bachelor in Business (CSU), a Bachelor of Health Administration (UNSW), and is a graduate of Mt Eliza Management College’s executive development program.
