Affordable aids to hearing

Waurn Ponds Hearing Clinic has emerged as a finalist in the categories for Health & Wellbeing and Customer Service at the Powercor Geelong Business Excellence Awards.
Established in 2011, the clinic evolved out of being disenchanted by working for companies that became focused on sales targets to sell more high end products to pensioner clients by calling this a clinical skill. The clinic wanted to use its skills to get better outcomes with the products that clients could afford.
Waurn Ponds Hearing Clinic believes it’s always better to be aided to communicate well than to avoid aids because clients can’t afford the product recommended.
The clientele consists of private paying customers, government hearing service clients receiving subsidised services and companies paying for services for their workers.
While other hearing clinics concentrate on pensioner testing and hearing aid sales focused on upselling clients from subsidised products to meet sales targets, the Waurn Ponds clinic has diversified into a wider range of hearing health care.
The clinic tests children aged 3-6 and provides additional aural rehabilitation post device fitting.
Waurn Ponds Hearing Clinic has also established the only locally based ear wax removal service.
The clinic is focused on navigating the changes in the industry, from product to service-based income streams and competing against multinational services.
Waurn Ponds Hearing Clinic is proud to be growing its business while remaining focused on an ethical service that delivers great outcomes for clients.
A recent focus on unethical service delivery in the industry by large retail chains was one of the reasons for the foundation of Waurn Ponds Hearing Clinic.
“Focusing on providing good diagnostic audiology services to local medical services and giving honest information to patients on the options to improve their hearing are the need of the hour,” the clinic says.
