‘Jump postie’ jobless

An Anglesea postman who crashed a delivery motorbike in a stunt jump this week “no longer works for Australia Post”, the organisation has confirmed.
A spokesperson for Australia Post said the company had “zero tolerance (for) any unsafe behaviour”.
“We are extremely disappointed by this incident,” the spokesperson said.
“Australia Post takes a matter like this extremely seriously and the person involved no longer works for us.”
The postie in his 20s was filmed attempting to jump a makeshift ramp in his Australia Post uniform on his boss’ motorbike during delivery rounds on Tuesday.
The man was reported to have told his boss he hit a kangaroo when questioned about damage to the bike.
Video footage of the “Air Mail” stunt received hundreds of hits on Youtube after a tradesman who built the ramp uploaded the footage this week.
The video was captioned: “we built a jump for the postie and he hit it hard. Didn’t turn out so well for the postie or the bike”.
The footage showed the postie speeding toward the ramp, flying through the air and landing on his front wheel before apparently crashing.
The tradesman who filmed the jump could be heard expressing alarm as the rider approached the ramp.
“How quick’s he gonna go? F—-, oh slow down, dude,” the tradie said seconds before the bike crashed outside the camera’s view.
Anglesea Police Sergeant Kevin Warburton called for witnesses to the incident to come forward with information.
“We’re very concerned that this stunt was performed on a public road and we don’t condone this behaviour at all,” Sgt Warburton said.
“We were first made aware of the video last night and we’ve been doing everything we can to get the correct information before we proceed with our investigations.”
