Enso Homes founder Lee Selkrig feels privileged to be part of Geelong’s “construction boom”.
“We’ve grown quite significantly in the last 18 months,” he says.
“We’re brand new to all this, but it’s exciting at the same time.”
It’s Enso Homes’ first time at the Geelong Business Excellence Awards, and he looks forward to taking on the region’s best.
“It would be great to get some reward for our staff,” he says. “I think (commerce) is quite healthy down here at the moment.”
“I’m not a long-time resident, but I can feel it changing. Geelong is not as industrial as it once was.”
If there’s one thing that stands out in local business, Lee says, it’s loyalty.
“Businesses are much more accountable down here – everyone’s more thankful for the business you’ve been given.”
The 30-year-old former carpenter moved from Coldstream to Armstrong Creek with his wife and two girls to set up the business.
“I used to visit this region frequently in my late teens,” he says
“Enso Homes has tailor-made their expansive Home Collection to suit the Surf Coast. If I was 80 and I (hadn’t had) a crack, I think I’d look back with regret.”
Lee says the awards are a great opportunity for local businesses hoping to get noticed.
“I just want to let people know that there is another choice out there for someone buying local.”
