SIX of the region’s leading chefs will do battle to impress MasterChef judge Matt Preston at this month’s Lara Food & Wine Festival.
Organisers said Jack and Jill head chef Leonie Mills would return to defend her 2011 Ultimate Chef Challenge crown on stage at Lara’s Pirra homestead.
Her challengers would be Gladioli Restaurant’s Matt Dempsey, Jack Rabbit Vineyard’s David Hall, Vue Grand’s Lyndon Getts, Black Bull Tapas Restaurant’s Daniel Brehaut and Fishermen’s Pier’s Cody Gibb.
The organisers said Mr Preston would choose the winner of the 15-minute challenge.
He would also join renowned restauranteur and cooking author Rosa Mitchell for a demonstration of her skills.
More than 80 exhibitors would operate stalls showcasing some of the region’s best food and wine products, the organisers said.
Organisers said entry to the fourth annual festival on March 25 would cost a gold coin, with parking free.
