New help to beat incontinence

URINARY incontinence, or the loss of bladder control, can range from occasionally leaking when coughing, laughing or sneezing to a sudden overwhelming urge to urinate.
Now help is available in Geelong with the MonaLisa Touch Laser, a non-surgical, non-hormonal treatment that improves the health of vaginal walls.
Using a CO2 fractional laser, the procedure stimulates the body’s own system to improve circulation and nutrient supply to vaginal skin.
“Many of our members have had the procedure and noticed improvements after their first treatment,” said CrossFit Geelong owner Corrine Chalmers.
“They now feel far more comfortable exercising. I’m very excited about what this procedure will do for women in Geelong.”
MonaLisa Touch Australian pioneer and endo-gynaecologist Dr Behnia-Willison said the quick walk-in, walk-out procedure is painless for most patients.
“The MonaLisa Touch is suitable for women of all ages experiencing symptoms related to vaginal atrophy, including vaginal dryness or itching, urinary urgency and incontinence, burning sensations and irritations of the vagina, fissuring of the vagina opening, vaginal laxity and pain during intercourse.”
The treatment is often used in conjunction with platelet-rich plama (PRP), which is prepared from the patient’s own blood and injected into the vaginal skin to further regenerate tissue growth, helping reconstruction and urinary incontinence.
Most women typically require three MonaLisa treatments with the average cost per individual treatment being $600 to $900.
Dr Behnia-Willison is accepting a limited number of appointments at Australian Skin Face Body, Geelong.
