All types of people enjoy Scottish music, even Britney Spears fans, according to one of Scotland’s top selling recording artists.
“Scottish music attracts people from all walks of life,’’ says Marion Martin.
“I have a wide cross section of listeners in my audience, from mature aged people through to people in their 30s and 40s as well as teenagers.
“Just because you listen to Britney Spears doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Scottish music.”
Affectionately known as The Flower of Scotland, Martin is regarded as one of the most dynamic and exciting singers Scotland has produced.
Martin’s many platinum albums for Universal Music have been selling non stop worldwide for over a quarter of a century.
“Singing is my passion,” she says.
“I enjoy singing a wide range of tunes, from traditional Scottish favourites through to the more contemporary melodies.”
Martin will bring her new show Geelong this weekend, advising audiences that they can look forward to a sparkling array of “champagne musical memories” featuring many of the enchanting Scottish songs she has recorded over the years.
“I love singing the favourites like My Love is like a Red Red Rose because audiences can sing along and become involved,” Martin said.
“It really is a lot of fun,’’
Martin’s mixes humourous impersonations of famous showbusiness icons into the performance.
“I like to mix it up a bit,” she said.
Martin was looking forward to visiting Geelong, a city she regarded with affection after her last visit.
“Geelong is a lovely place,” she said.
“Last time I was here I remember the fantastic audiences and the beautiful restaurants along the waterfront.”
Martin will perform with The Braveheart Orchestra, Pipe Major John Young and Bluebell Highland Dancers from 2.30pm Sunday at Geelong Performing Arts Centre.
