Family unveils Daniel reward

MICHELLE HERBISON
THE FAMILY of a missing Geelong man has announced a $50,000 reward for anyone who helps find him.
Daniel O’Keeffe has been missing since he disappeared from his parents’ Highton home on July 15.
Mr O’Keeffe’s sister Loren O’Keeffe said donations to a website the family set up to find her brother had funded the reward.
“We’ve banded together as a family and community and we’ve been very fortunate with the support we’ve got from social media.”
Ms O’Keeffe said this week marked five months since her brother disappeared.
The family “needed” to know whether he was safe.
“If someone calls up with information that leads us to finding Dan, hopefully safe and sound, that person may be rewarded.”
The Independent reported in July that police believed Mr O’Keeffe might be living with homeless people.
But Ms O’Keeffe rejected the theory.
She was “still taken aback” that he disappeared without notice.
“Dan always asked my advice before doing anything and respected my opinion. I would’ve supported him if he wanted to take time-out but we just have no clue which direction he’s gone in.”
Ms O’Keeffe said the family was providing information at www.dancomehome.com and www.facebook.com/dancomehome.
Anyone with information could phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the family on 0478 661 092, she said.
Geelong Police were unable to update the Independent on the investigation before the paper went to press.
