Roadworks ‘urgent’ on the whole

“Urgent” work to repair dangerous potholes on Geelong’s bypass will begin tomorrow, VicRoads has announced.
The work on Melbourne-bound lanes between the Moorabool River bridge and Midland Highway overpass would “ensure the safety of the travelling public”, VicRoads’ south west regional director Mark Koliba said.
Recent wet weather has led to an outbreak of potholes and other damage on busy local roads, with motorists expressing concerns about safety and vehicle damage.
“The recent wet weather conditions have led to a rapid deterioration of the road pavement resulting in numerous potholes opening up on the freeway.
“These urgent repairs will provide a short to long-term fix pending a full geotechnical pavement investigation to identify the cause of the problem.”
Motorists should expect speed restrictions and traffic delays during lane closures to complete the work safely, Mr Koliba said.
“I thank drivers in advance for their patience and ask that everyone drive safely through our road construction site.”
The works will continue from 9am to 3pm weekdays, with VicRoads expecting completion in two weeks.
