A laser light on hair removal

Gone are the days of time consuming waxing and shaving of underarms, bikini lines, legs, arms, lips, chins and, for the guys, chests and abdomens.
Now, a few simple laser treatments can reduce unwanted hair.
“Winter is the best time to begin a hair reduction program and you’ll be hitting the beach next summer with smooth, silky hair free legs,” said dermal clinician Fiona Priddle.
A medical grade laser treatment is a fast and effective way to get rid of unwanted body and facial hair.
Laser uses a beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment in hair and skin and is converted to heat.
The heat damages the hair follicle so further hair cannot grow.
Laser hair removal works best on dark hair and light, untanned skin which is why it is best done during the winter.
Those with fair hair may be unsuitable for laser hair removal and, due to the lack of pigment, laser will not work on red, white or grey hair.
“The number of treatments required varies from person to person and factors such as age, medication and hormones can play a part in the success of the treatments.
“Each hair follicle goes through a different growth phase and laser works when your hair is in its active growth stage.”
Not all lasers are the same and Australian Skin Face Body uses a medical grade laser.
Lasers can be far more effective than intense pulsed light (IPL) hair removal because it targets hair follicles more precisely.
“If patients are consistent with their treatment sessions, you will see a reduction in the amount of hair that grows back.
“Any re-growth is sporadic and the hair tends to be very fine.
“Whilst some people are happy with this, others may choose to have a ‘touch up’ treatment every 12 months or so,” said Fiona.
Does it hurt? The Candela Gmax Pro TM, which is used at Australian Skin Face Body, is one of the most comfortable and effective lasers used to safely target pigmentation in the hair.
Laser pulses are very short and are combined with a cooling spray which quickly combats any feeling of heat.
To celebrate the start of winter, Australian Skin Face Body has an irresistible hair reduction offer at 20 per cent off a course of three treatments.
