Augmented Reality Christmas fun in Central Geelong

There’s no denying it, Christmas is well and truly here and there are so many ways to celebrate Christmas in Central Geelong.

Central Geelong Marketing is offering lots of opportunities to experience and explore our festive city and maximise your Christmas joy.

The Central Geelong Christmas program offers 22 fun and mostly FREE Christmas experiences. A big hit this year is the Augmented Reality Christmas Trail and Giant 3D artworks where Christmas really comes to life.

Augmented Reality Trail
A Christmas Elf decorating Central Geelong, a Gingerbread Man dodging giant gifts, singing snowmen and even the ‘big man’ himself are hiding around Central Geelong. Can you find them?

All you need is your smartphone or device to discover these loveable Christmas characters. Download the free ‘Creativitek’ App from the App Store or Google Play then use Central Geelong’s free Wi-Fi network as you search for the ‘Christmas in Central Geelong’ footpath stickers located throughout our festive city.

There are Christmas characters to discover at 12 Central Geelong locations. You can download a map of all the locations at www.centralgeelong.com.au/christmasAR

Some tips to get the best out of your augmented reality experience:
• The button for recording videos/taking photos works like Instagram’s button. You tap it to take and share a photo or you need to hold it to record a video.
• For the best photo experience, we suggest turning each character into a markerless experience using the “Reposition“ button. Then you can tap on the screen to place one of the characters wherever you want and resize it.

Augmented Reality Colouring Sheets
Bring the Floating Christmas Tree to life and look out for the Central Geelong Christmas Elf! with a series of interactive Christmas in Central Geelong colouring sheets.

Collect a colouring sheet from a Central Geelong Christmas Elf, The Carousel, or download them at www.centralgeelong.com.au/christmas. Remember to colour in your picture FIRST and then watch your colouring come to life on the ‘Creativitek’ App. You can also collect a colouring sheet from any of the Santa Stops on the Christmas Trail Map.
