Summer fun in Central Geelong

Central Geelong Summer Fun Guide, presented by Central Geelong Marketing, is a great go-to for what’s happening in Central Geelong and online these school holidays.

Entertain the kids with treasure hunts and self-guided trails, arts and crafts, photography, drama and virtual workshops, exhibitions, markets, and a competition to win tickets to some of Central Geelong attractions. Plus, there’s special offers from Central Geelong businesses.

Program highlights include:

Central Geelong Summer Treasure Hunt

Central Geelong Marketing presents another of its popular treasure hunts, this time with a summer theme, from January 15-27. Download a map, put on your walking shoes and head into Central Geelong for a treasure hunt the kids will love. Find the word clues in the posters (on the windows) of participating businesses. Find all the clues for your chance to win $300 in vouchers from participating businesses. At each stop children aged 3-12 years can redeem a free treasure.

How Geelong Works – City Adventure

Discover how Geelong works with the National Wool Museum. Collect an exclusive James Gulliver Hancock map and clues to uncover some surprising details about the design of Geelong. Find key sites and collect features to add to your map. Maps can be collected from the National Wool Museum or Visitor Centres in Central Geelong.

Self-Guided Trails

Me and UooUoo: The RCH150 Anniversary Art Trail – Me and UooUoo (pronounced you-you) combines Victoria’s renowned passion for arts and culture with a dash of outdoor adventure, encouraging communities to reconnect with their cities, and be active by visiting 100 unique art sculptures. Each UooUoo has been designed by an Australian artist for the 150th anniversary of The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Melbourne and will find a home in laneways, streets, parks and public spaces, forming walking trails of discovery throughout Melbourne and Geelong.

Join UooUoo daily from January 20 on an outdoor adventure to help raise funds for the RCH. Visit www.uoouoo.org.au to find out how you can be involved and where to find UooUoo’s in Geelong.

Activate Geelong Bollards – Download the Tourism Greater Geelong & The Bellarine’s ‘Activate Geelong Bollards App’. Bring six of the iconic baywalk landmarks to life through augmented reality.

Be Your Own Wildlife Photographer – Geelong Botanic Gardens

Get to know your phone camera and how to use it. This is a workshop for families and individuals who want to learn how to get more out of their mobile phone camera on January 12. Take your own wildlife photographs in the Gardens. Bookings required.

Summer in the Gardens – Geelong Botanic Gardens

Visit Geelong Botanic Gardens on January 13 and 19 to explore the summer garden. There are activities for younger visitors so come prepared for the sun and to get a little bit messy. Bookings required.
