genU has been building inclusive communities since 1952 and corporate social responsibility is fundamental to the organisation’s mission and vision.

The organisation experienced substantial change with the merging of Karingal and St Laurence to form genU in 2017, but it holds true the heritage of those two organisations, maintaining the vision – to build inclusive communities.

“As an organisation we operate in a framework that considers the social, financial and environmental impact on stakeholders,” says genU chief executive officer Clare Amies. “This has been vital to ensuring the long-term growth of the business and maintaining our reputation as one of Geelong’s leading not-for-profit organisations.

“It’s through this framework that we will ultimately achieve our mission of creating and delivering innovative services and supports that empower people to reach their full potential.”

Ms Amies also says that genU sees first-hand the benefits of operating in an ethical and sustainable way and knows the importance of enhancing social inclusion through programs and initiatives that give vulnerable groups the opportunity to participate in their community and economy.”

She concludes by saying, “genU is proud to sponsor the 2020 Corporate Social Responsibility Award, and to celebrate those businesses that have accepted corporate social responsibility as part of their culture; promoting inclusion in the workplace, community or other area, that has led to the enrichment of the lives of people with disability or those who are disadvantaged.”

genU congratulates all the nominees and winners at the 2020 Geelong Business Excellence Awards.
