Top service, 30 years on

Specialty electrical and whitegoods parts supplier Geelong Appliances Spares is celebrating 30 years in business this spring.

The family firm, owned and operated by David and Jannine Dolley is now handily located in North Geelong with loads of on-site parking, so customers can literally pull up to the roller door.

It’s been an incredible journey for the Dolley clan, expanding from selling only elements and light globes at Geelong Lamp & Element Shoppe in the Centrepoint Arcade from mid-1988.

After many years at their Mercer Street premises, they relocated to North Geelong a little over one year ago.

Jannine said several family members including David’s late father Ben have been intrinsic to the business’ success, customer service focus and building a fine industry reputation over the years.

“David realised that there was a need in the market place for appliance spare parts,” she said.

“And in 1990 we became authorised spare parts distributors for Electrolux whitegoods covering well known household brands like Kelvinator, Simpson, Westinghouse, Chef and Hoover.”

Demand for Geelong Appliance Spares’ expertise is mainly led by the service industry and retail customers, with website orders now taking a small but increasing slice of the market.

With David’s electrical wholesaling background and Jannine’s experience in banking and distribution they form a great team along with three staff members in accounts, stores and customer service.

“David has a phenomenal memory for spare parts and part numbers,” Jannine said. “And if people bring in a sample he will generally recognise the part and track it down for them.

“We’ve about 5000 parts in stock and if we haven’t got it here, David tries hard to source things for people from all over.”

Geelong Appliance Spares supplies parts to the Geelong, Surfcoast and Bellarine area. They also distribute parts for Electrolux throughout Western Victoria as far as Portland.

“We’ve been running the website platform for a couple of years now and can send parts anywhere in Australia – with a lot of orders to Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia,” Jannine said.

Spring is the time for renewal. So if you need the right parts to complete repairs to whitegoods, such as overworked dryers or beer fridges and air-conditioners for summer, now is the time to act.
